Textiles & Embroideries

In this website you can find lace from the 16th century: cutwork and pulled threadwork, punto in aria to finest Venetian needlepoint and outstanding Flemish lace. Then there are the examples of magnificent French lace such as point de France, Alencon, Argentan, Argentella and of course point de Sedan to mention just a few. You may also find  eighteenth century delicate Brussels lace and the extravagant point de gaze 0f the 19th century. Many more examples of delightful laces such as Honiton and Buckingham in England, also Ireland with its famous lace schools of the 19th century produce many examples of wonderful lace.

Textiles - Stock no. J36 is a pair of 19th century velvet embroidered picture frames. Each measures: 54 x 42cms. Condition: they have never been used or finished. Price: 275 GBP

Textiles - Stock no.J8.2 is a 19th century French green woven silk chasuble with floral decoration. It measures: 108cms in length.  Sold Price: 140

 

Textiles - Stock no.J8.3 is a very long clerical stole or an alter runner in ivory damask with gilt thread decoration. It measures: 280 x 53cms. Condition: good.  Sold  Price: 80

 

Textiles - Stock no.1 is a Regency needle work picture. The blackwork is done on a satin background. The subject seems to be a very tall man humbling himself to the lady of the manor.  Sold  Price: 225

  

 

Textiles - Stock no.2  is an Regency needle work picture.  The subject in this picture - is a water mill with a dog and two men fishing. Sold  Price: 145

 

Textiles - Stock no.3  is an Regency needle work picture.  This one is a larger picture than the others and it is exquisite work. It represents a group of maidens (not sure of the story) Sold  Price: 285

 

Textiles - Stock no.4  is a pair of Regency needle work picture. It shows a rural cottage scenes.  Sold  Price: 450

 

 

Textiles - Stock no.5  is an Regency needle work picture.  This one shows a more elegant scene with a name of the house "Copenhagen House"  Vauxhall residence of Queen Caroline.  It measures: 35 x 26cms. Condition: some splitting on the satin. Price: 300 GBP

 

Textiles - Stock no.H51.2 is a small collection of Regency collectables. First is a silk embroidered purse lined with green silk. The item in the centre is an embroidered panel. The other item is a very fine beadwork purse showing flowers and trophies of love, lined in pink silk .  The first measures: 19 x 9 1/2cms the centre panel measures: 32 x 34cms. The beadwork purse measures: 15 x 9cms. condition: the first one is slightly faded to one side and minor splits on the silk (on the fold) the centre panel some of the black work is worn in places and on the beadwork there is a minor hole on the back (see photos)  Sold  Price for the three items is: 980

 

Textiles - Stock no.H51.1 is a rare collection of Regency sewing/knitting boat shaped baskets. The one in the centre has its original box and cover. The basket is beautifully painted on silk. The other one is also painted. The third one is covered in silk and the top decorated with pearls and is without the silk top. The box measures: 38cms long and the height is 12cms. There is some minor damage like some pearls missing one tear to the silk top but on the whole they are in good condition.  Sold  Price for the collection: 1200

 

Textiles - Stock no.H47.1 is a very fine Bebilla (bibila oya) bag it is beautiful worked with petals and leafs in relief. It is a particular good example of this work. It measures: 16cms long including the tassel. Condition: good. Sold  Price: 375

 

Textiles - Stock no.H22.11   is an early 19th century Turkish sash. It measures: 195 x 25cms. Condition: minor stains. Sold  Price: 175

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.12  is a early 19th century Turkish towel. It measures: 110 x 50cms. Condition: small darns. Sold  Price: 175

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.9  is another 19th century Turkish towel. This one as been folded and sewn to show only the embroidery  - it does not look like it has been cut. Condition: minor damage.  Sold  175

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.7  is a 19th century Turkish bag. It measures: 23 x 20cms. Condition: good.  Sold  Price: 60

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.5  is a strip of an embroidered towel end. It measures: 39 x 7cms.  Sold Price: 45

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.4  is (possibly) a Turkish embroidered cover. It measures: 70 x 43cms. Condition: good.  Sold Price: 75

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.8  is a 19th century Turkish? shawl. It measures: 88 x 88cms. Condition: minor faults.  Sold  Price: 225

 

Textiles - Stock no. H22.3  is a pair of Oriental sleeve bands. They measure 105 x 8cms. Condition: good. Sold  Price: 75

 

Textiles - Stock no H15.3 is a small 19th century beadwork pelmet showing children's at play. It measures: 27 x 29cms including the fringe. Condition: a few beadwork missing at the top (see photo) otherwise in very good condition.  Sold  Price: 225

 

Stock no. is an Art Nouveau embroidered picture frame circa 1900. It measures: 26 x 23cms. Condition: minor wear to the corners. Price: 85 GBP

 

Stock no. F8.7 is a late 19th century French embroidered pelmet. This pelmet is embroidered over a printed cotton background with flowers and ribbons - it has never been used or the edges finished It measures: 210 x 20cms. Condition: very good.  Sold  Price: 240

  

 

 
Stock no. Y40.1 is an Indian black felt mat, heavily embroidered mainly in bullion thread, heightened by embroidered  flowers and other motifs in pale pink, blue and green  floss silks. There is a bullion work fringe outlining the hem. It measures:178 x 178 cms (70 x 70 inches); Condition: good; Price: 100 (GBP)
