Antique lace (page two) stock no.H69.11 is a beautiful length of Alencon lace. This lace, apart from being very inventive with many different flowers and motifs, has also a very crisp appearance, the reason for this is that all the sharp buttonhole stitches have an edge with horse hair (or natural gut) to keep it crisp. This method of making lace was only done for a short period of time, there were too many complaints that the lace with horse hair use to get caught to other items of clothing, and also damaged the background net of the lace. We have two length of this lace; one is slightly darker than the other. One measure: 282 x 21cms and the other measures: 288 x 21cms. Price for the two lengths is: 1700 Reserved
